Joan Sardà is a winery run the Sardà family who have always worked on wine and cava production.
Joan Sardà’s history is a saga of a family of winemakers who starteed out in 1927 when Tomàs Sardà, a peasant who cultivated his own vineyards, obtained a glut of wine due to a very good harvest. Because of this success he started to do business in Barcelona.
His son Joan got to open up a new and important market in distributing for nearby restaurants.
After three generations, Joan and Antoni, both oenologists, strengthend the company by expanding their vineyards, building a new cellar and internationalising the family business.
The vineyards, mainly placed in the region of Penedès, contain great native and international varieties.
For the last few years the wine technique has improved a lot and for that reason Joan Sardà can produce the best products year on year.
Besides the big changes, Joan Sardà’s team feels very proud of roots and so keeps the entrepreneurial spirit of the company founders. It may be because of this reason that their products are in most of the main worldwide markets.
